Some brilliant shots by Sebas Romero from the KTM 1290 Superduke launch in Spain this week. You can see the stock 1290 superduke in Orange, black/grey and the full powerparts race version.
I wasn’t invited to the press launch unfortunately, but I was lucky enough to have a short test on one during a ride up the mountain behind Kiska a couple of weeks ago. I was a little apprehensive to ride it at first, and while it is certainly a beast in sport mode, in the street mode it was incredibly well behaved and confidence inspiring. Yes, it’s amazingly fast as you would expect with 180bhp but it’s also surprisingly easy to ride with the electronics on. I need to get some more time on one to really feel it out, but it is already by far and away the most impressive motorcycle I have ever ridden.
zero to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 7.2 seconds
You can change modes at the press of a button.
Rain: smooth, limited power, with early intervening traction control.
Street: sporty but effective, always appropriate and super-swift.
Sport? The full works, with sharp teeth and controlled drift feeling.
Plus: Supermoto ABS for all pure drifters.
And to top it all, deactivation modes for ABS and traction control – for nutters!
Big up to Romaestro for sending me such sick photos!
