Before you get a full motorcycle (or car) license, and with a few short hours training you can ride up to 125cc bikes in Europe on the road, and in some countries can even get away with riding nice 2 stroke 125’s. Years ago my first proper bike on the road was a 125 2 stroke and it was a massive amount of fun to rag around London, especially with the DEP race pipe and silencer I had on. I couldn’t afford the supermoto wheels but the big MX knobblies more than made up for it. To this day some of my best biking memories are of weaving through traffic around Marble arch and Hamersmith, or jumping traffic islands and speed bumps, or wheelying through Southwark. I was young, broke, frustrated and London was my motocross track where I could get out some youthful aggression. Irresponsible? yes. fun? hell yea. I am not endorsing this behavior, it was just how it was then and thinking back on it I am lucky not to have hurt more than a few wing mirrors.
Konrad Becker from Norway sent me some photos of his 2013 KTM 125 EXC 6 days which he has modified into a supermoto and I guess he is having as much fun as I used to. He says he will upload a video soon to youtube driving the bike, so if you are interested, keep an eye here.
