Waking at 5am to another day of solid rain, I set off on the 2.5 hour drive to Erzberg this morning from Salzburg unaware of the scale of the adventure ahead. Extreme rainfall had caused complete havoc over Austria, Czech Republic, Germany and Switzerland with towns underwater and rivers flooding over ripping up trees and everything else in their path. Some roads were closed and others partially obscured with mudslides and rivers. As serious as it was, you kind of had to laugh really. Erzberg is the toughest enduro race in the world so it was somehow appropriate that the approach looked like a scene from the Apocalypse!
I took my 150SX along since I had a press pass and got given a tour up the mountain to take photos as the riders came by. It didn’t stop raining for even a minute all day but ripping around the mountain on my bike taking photos of some of the best hard Enduro riders in the world riding over terrain that was almost impossible to even walk over made for a brilliant day out! Loads of photos below!
Much respect to EVERY rider who competed.
Lot of water at the start this year!
My usual riding buddy and Kiska Colleague Zacher Entered!
Chris hauthaler.
Zacher and Chris about to get dirty!
Jarvis was a man on a mission. There was literally nobody else in sight when he came through Carls diner.
Taddy was injured but was giving support to the other guys and doing interviews.
SO many mix and match KTM’s, was kind of funny to see.
