Romaestro himself, AKA Sebas Romero, AKA @iammrshit was on hand at the press launch in Maggiora, Italy yesterday for the launch of the all new generation KTM 2016 SX’s.
KTM really went the extra mile this time to explain how new these models are, going so far as to make some cutouts in the engines to see how the new powerplants work, as well as the suspension, including air forks, and some transparent bodywork. IN TOTAL 365 OUT OF 378 PARTS HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED TO BE LIGHTER, STRONGER OR MORE EFFICIENT ON THE 2016 SX FOURSTROKE MODELS COMPARED TO 2015.
Dungey and Musquin won both the 450 and 250 AMA Supercross championships this year on these bikes in their first outing which says more than any words about how good they are.
The plastics are linked almost entirely to ergonomic and functional considerations so whilst they may look a little different they feel great between your knees and when you move around on them. The graphics are not my favourite (since it’s a new generation model there were lots of people involved this year and I was not the creative director) but the aftermarket sticker companies should be able to remedy that with some numberplates/GFX, especially over the airbox side.
We will have a first ride report coming up before long so stay tuned, but for now, enjoy some great photos below. KTM also has an excellent new website you can see here with more info.
