After designing the color trim and graphics of the last 7 versions of the KTM EXC Six days models, this will be the last model year of bike with my design. Portugal, Mexico (little bit mad!), Finland (The start of the stripey KTM’s!) Germany (a tough one but stoked how it came out), Sardinia (Nice and clean), Argentina (not so much) and now Slovakia.
The Six days KTM EXC’s were always my favourite project each year, so I am feeling more sentimental than usual about the 2016 model. Before leaving KISKA I was told they would like me to stay freelance and still design all of the offroad bikes for 2017, but once I had my last day they went back on this and instead shut the door on me. C’est La Vie. Other doors have opened so perhaps it’s their loss more than mine in the end, but I will miss designing the GFX on the KTM and Husqvarna offroad bikes.
Perhaps the bikes will look better next year, perhaps not. Perhaps they will keep my style going, or most likely I imagine try something new. Perhaps you don’t care either way, they are still kickass bikes underneath whatever colors the parts are and whatever the stickers look like. Maybe you change the stickers straight away anyway. I used to. Whatever the case, and for better or for worse, after 7 years of designing GFX for KTM it is the end of the derestricted design era and I am looking forward to seeing what the next guys or girls come up with. For now, I hope you like this one, I think it’s my favourite Six days design out of all of them.
This bike and some other 6 Days models are sitting at Hauthaler KTM in Salzburg. If you want one, grab it while you can, the six days models usually sell pretty quick.
