It’s Coming – First Triple Backflip on a Motorcycle

Anybody who has hit a big gap jump, or cliff or step-up or ridden a sketchy line on their bike or skis or snowboard or dropped into a massive tabletop for the fist time in the park to do a trick, or a million other things which take you outside of your comfort zone, knows that feeling of butterflies in their stomach. That feeling of lightheadedness, but intense focus, that single minded purpose. The fear, the need to overcome too much hesitation and the moment you just push through it, grab your balls and go for it with your heart in your mouth! That moment of full commitment.

More often than not in my experience, if you manage to have the courage to take that step to the other side into the unknown then it means you had the skills and the confidence to pull off whatever you were going for anyway. Sometimes you don’t pull it off perfectly, but enough to avoid injury and can usually stand up again knowing what you did wrong, and can go straight back and nail it the next time. When you take that step into the darkness of the unknown and come out of the other side there is no other feeling like it on earth.

Josh Sheehan is taking a massive step.
In 2006, Travis Pastrana shocked the world with the double. In 2015, Josh Sheehan will make history by attempting the first ever triple backflip.

The marketing manager from Nitro Circus reached out to me about posting this and whilst I am a little nervous even thinking about him trying the trick, I give him massive respect for trying to make it happen, so will post updates as and when I hear them. As you can imagine, this is a daunting and dangerous endeavour that requires a lot of preparation, so the exact date will depend on Sheeny’s readiness and the weather conditions. Currently, the big day is scheduled for 3-4 weeks from now. We will let you know all details as we get closer.
