2013 Motocross Of Nations – Teutschental, Day 2

It is hard to really do justice in words or pictures to how incredible of an event the MX of nations is to a moto fan. This weekend was without a doubt the best race I have ever witnessed. The on track battles were amplified by the incredible atmosphere brought about by the 85,000 people in attendance and the amazing Autumn light shining across the Teutschental circuit. I didn’t get around to getting a proper press pass in time and I only have a 17mm-50mm lens so it was a little tricky to get decent action shots with the huge crowds, but I think some of them give a  decent idea of how close the racing was and how epic the backdrop was.

Was great to see Cairoli completely dominate the field of 250 and 450 riders on his KTM 350 sx-f! I am not sure why more guys dont ride 350’s!!

Dean Ferris was riding seriously well.

Dungey passed Paulin but then Paulin passed him right back and left him far behind.

Cairoli is a BOSS!!

de_dyker

Cairoli might have won the battle, but De Dyker and Team Belgium won the war this time!

mx_ofnations_2013_tomac_vs_roczen3

This was the most exciting battle I have ever witnessed. Tomac on the left VS Roczen on the right went at it in both races for almost the entire races! photographers blocking what would have been a sick photo. haha.

Roczen started looking tried at the end of the 1st moto with all the pressure from Tomac, if Tomac hadn’t crashed he would have possibly taken the win.

Tomac was jumping way further down this hill and losing some time in the process.

Roczen was laying down rubber far earlier. He rode like a champ, especially in the 2nd moto and deserved the win.

This was how close it was for most of the race and right until the end between Roczen and Tomac.

As much of a badass as Roczen is, Cairoli had him covered in race one, catching him from far back, passing him and pretty much checking out.

de_dyker_2

Brilliant ride from De Dyker.

Tommy Searle was on it too, getting a 3rd in race 1 and a 5th in race 2.

For the 2nd year in a row Cairoli was the fastest man at the MX of Nations, but at the end of the day, as cheesy as it may sound, there were so many great riders and battles going on that everyone who was present was kind of a winner.
