Berchtesgaden and Rossfeld Panoramastrasse

Berchtesgaden and Rossfeld Panoramastrasse

Cruised over to Berchtesgaden yesterday again for lunch.

Pretty much the only thing I don’t like about this bike are those mirrors which move all the time and feel kind of cheap. No aftermarket mirrors in KTM powerparts either which seems silly as I guess the superduke could also benefit from some better aluminium mirrors. Trying to find some Rizoma ones to fit. Actually I would rather take them off altogether as I never move over without turning around anyway but I am not sure that’s legal.

It’s been out for years this Duke but every time I stop people just crowd around it and want to know everything about it, horsepower, top speed, weight, price, who makes it (the Duke comes with no KTM logo’s), how does it handle etc etc. Not so easy with my dodgy German and the strong accents around here.

For lunch today i drove 10 mins up above work to this toll road. 3 euro 50 and nobody on it. Absolute bargain as the road is epic.

The 35mmprime lens on the 550D is excellent but I think I need a wider lens for the panorama’s around here.

Very kind of you to carry your camera and take all these wonderful pictures so that you can bragg about how nice it is to work alongside such a wonderful place and make US , mere mortals feel like shit about working in such ugly surroundings.

Thanks for charing, yes I do envy your “luck”.

    Great blog, big fan!

thanks man (I think), I had my fair share of ugly though, I only had this bike a few weeks and the last time I had a bike on the road (tuned but ratty DT125 10 years ago) I was working as a motorcycle courier in central London trying to make enough to pay my rent in between any design jobs i could get while the whole dot com boom was turning to bust. Happy to be able to share some of this place.

If you were once a bike courier in Central London, you are right. You have seen ugly and apparently lived to tell the story. I now live in Edgware and hope one day to look out the window and see mountains , on a daliy basis.

Love your blog, specially your videos. Amazing work, well done.

@Hugo, thanks will keep posting as long as I have anything good to post. Nice Yamaha by the way.
