Fractured Vertebra. Again.
5th Dec 2007
About 5 years ago I said to my friend Dieter, who wanted to leave the park in Avoriaz and ski back over to Switzerland where we left our car, "last run man". 10 mins later, I was being taken down in a blood wagon to the hospital where I found out I had fractured my C7 vertebra.
On Sunday I was really excited to have bought a season pass, check out a new resort and hit some rails again after several years. First run, you should always warm up and take it easy, but nope, not this time, just over half way along an up and down rail I slid off the side and with my skiis caught on the rail, landed on my back. I totally knocked the wind out of myself, but when I got my breath back skied down to the bottom of that run and waited to see if the pain would go. No luck, so we skied all the way to the bottom of the resort and then Jule drove me to hospital.
Anyway, 3 days, 18 injections, 8 drips and 2 sleepless nights later I am back home with a compression fracture of the no.8 vertebra. Dam!
The doctor said I should be skiing again in 6 weeks or so. With a good warm up this time.

London too
November 2007
Some pics below from by my work, a huge crack in the floor which is a new exhibit in the Tate Modern in London and a couple others. How did they make that crack?? It gets progressively bigger as it goes down. Brilliant watching all the people just staring down a crack and hearing them come up with theories about how they did it. Anyway, some photos from London on facebook here.

London
9th November 2007
Salzburg was sunny and full of snow when I got on the plane to go back to London for my mum's birthday party. As usual at my mum's parties, it was the early hours before anyone got to bed, but it was a brilliant party and everyone was on good form. If I get some time I will try and throw up some photos...

I Ching or book of changes
19th November 2007
Over 5000 years old, studied and respected by many of the world's greatest minds, this book has a depth so profound, so enlightening and so full of wisdom that I really would encourage anyone reading this to go and pick up a copy. It is not a novel, and although I have always been an avid reader, not easy to digest at once or to read with haste. I am excited to have begun an affair with this book, and have no doubt that I will continue reading and rereading it for many more years to come.
The philosophy centres on the ideas of the dynamic balance of opposites, the evolution of events as a process, and acceptance of the inevitability of change, but to be honest, summing it up in so short a sentence does it no justice at all.
Check out the original translation by Wilhelm, which I would recommend before reading any other versions.

EICMA, Milan
9th November 2008
A load of us from Kiska headed down to Milan for the huge motorcycle show which is EICMA. KTM unveiled the Kiska designed RC8 for the first time, including the full carbon fibre powerparts model, for which i was lucky enough to design some minimal graffix.

The first time I hit a jump ramp on a motocross bike was with a talented Italian freestyler/Snowboarder named Alvaro Dal farra. He had his fully pimped out KTM on display which looked amazing.

28th October 2007
It's been nearly two years since I hit a decent size jump in a good a park, but after a couple of runs it was starting to feel pretty good. The Scratch Brigade's are well stiff so you cant be as sloppy as I could on my old skiis, but they are so dam light that moving is really easy in the air. Anyway, so yea, we rode at Hintertux and then cruised to Munich for dinner... Few photo's up here the lazy way...

Skiing and stuff
24th October 2007
Ah, time is short, no time to do the usual photo treatment and delivery, just thrown a load up here...

Seven Sunny Days
21st October 2007
Seriously impressive follow cam footage!
Watzmann, Bergtesgaden
17th October 2007
We did a long hike up to 1970m last weekend.
It is forecast to start snowing on Saturday IN Salzburg. Come on!
Some photos here..

Rossignol Scratch Brigade
8th October 2007
Some new skiis after 5 years (5 years!!??) longer, fatter and lighter. A good combination!
Since time is short, I have just stuck photos up on facebook from last weekend instead of my usual deal. The quality kind of sucks though...

Berchtesgaden mountain
8th October 2007
We went hiking up, over and around a mountain 20 mins from here last weekend. We didnt really have any idea where we were going but you usually discover more when you set off like that. Some photos will go up soon...
On not such a good note, I got stopped on my scooter and it got impounded for being derestricted and modified, by the German cops just across the border... dam...Once I collect it from the station, would anyone like to buy a super fast (98km/h top speed) NRG fuel injection 50cc, minus an exhaust? (which was confiscated and crushed).

Henry and Steffi's wedding, Italy
27th September 2007
We cruised down 4 hours south through the mountains to Italy for a wedding.
lots of photos here...

Kaprun glacier and random hike
17th September 2007
This weekend was spent skiing up on a glacier an hour away from here and then hiking up a mountain we saw half way back home.
Loads of photos here

Audi A4
5th September 2007
Here is the fundamental and frustrating contradiction facing me, between my knowledge, thoughts and actions. Despite knowing that global peak oil is upon us, a bicycle or scooter just wont cut it in the snow in Salzburg. I am somewhat ashamed, and also somewhat ecstatic to say that I have bought myself an old Audi. :)

Henry's Stag party, Bucharest.
29th August 2007
My great friend Henry is getting married twice in Italy and once in America. In between he had some time for a stag party, and what a party it was!
I have a small and edited selection of photos here.

Salzburg
29th August 2007
Photos from a few days in Salzburg here.
It takes me a long time to go through and select photos, crop, retouch, re-size, optimise and put them in the page. A long time. This post and the one above have taken over 2 hours! The question is, would anyone care if I just throw them up on facebook as they are? Would this site also be more interesting to you if I opened it up to some new contributors and had it on an automatic content management system? Would you even notice? Please let me know below!

Throw a kit
16th Aug 2007
First time I ever put a video on this site, but this had me smiling so hard it had to go up. Plus their sh!ts derestricted. Hahaha. Ok, Im going to watch it again now.
Les Deux Alpes
12th Aug 2007
My bro just got back from Holiday in Les Deux Alpes and took some brilliant photos while he was there. You can check them out on his facebook photo page here.

The art of simplicity is a puzzle of complexity
Aug 10th 2007
Soooo, it's the weekend, I have a contract for a new job starting in October down in Salzburg and it's raining! You could think, ah sh!t, it's raining, or ah yes, it's raining! Called reframing and not allways easy to do. Anyway, I have a selection of various photos from Montreux, Villars, Frankfurt, Salzburg and Berlin here.
Peace.

"Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one" - Albert Einstein
Aug 8th 2007
The great Swiss philosopher Carl Jung famously said "people cannot stand too much reality". So, if this describes you, please go and visit another site. If not, have a read of this:
"Civilization as we know it is coming to an end soon. This is not the wacky proclamation of a doomsday cult, apocalypse bible prophecy sect, or conspiracy theory society. Rather, it is the scientific conclusion of the best paid, most widely-respected geologists, physicists, bankers, and investors in the world. These are rational, professional, conservative individuals who are absolutely terrified by a phenomenon known as global "Peak Oil."
Continued..........................
It is not going to replace oil or stop us runnning out, but this is really amazing nonetheless, burning water?
And on an unrelated and slightly more cheerfull note, here are a couple more pictures from Emced from Montreux of the Wu-Tang,

No matter where you go, there you are.

Frankfurt June Various
June 10th 2007
So, I handed in my notice at Leo Burnett where I work. It has been a brilliant couple of years here but it seems time to take things to the next level. Lots of exciting plans in the works. I am staying until mid september and then on to hopefully bigger and better things.
Various photos from the last couple of weeks in frankfurt here.

Go back in time here to Cornwall, Brazil, Zugspitze, berlin, Franfurt etc etc...
